Unsatisfactory
I received the set of cooler and CPU with no apparent defect. Cooler works ok, but CPU causes problems on both Windows and Ubuntu (may not even start). I had to put back my slower 2800+ which works flawlessly.

Good value if you can find one at a decent price.
I bought this processor to replace my old S754 Sempron 3000+, as I was hoping the increased cache (512KB of the Athlon 64 3200+ vs 128KB on the Sempron) and higher core speed (2000MHz/2GHz vs 1800MHz/1.8GHz) would give me a noticeable boost in speed and smoother computing experience. Well, and that it would perform better in benchmarks and multitasking. Also, I had heard that Venice cores ran cooler than the Newcastle or Clawhammer chips (90nm vs 130nm manufacturing process). I was surprised by just how much faster it actually is. On SuperPi 1m on the old Sempron 3000+ the fastest it could finish the task was 50s, the Athlon 64 3200+ completed it in 41s on the first run. Prime95 goes faster as well, completing tests in 3-4 minutes, whereas my Sempron took 5-7 minutes per test ... Temperature-wise the Venice core of the Athlon runs at about the same temps as the Palermo core of the Sempron with the stock cooler and AS5 thermal compound (idle temps at 32-34°C and load temps of 47-51°C), which doesn't surprise me, since they are both made based upon the 90nm manufacturing process. Bottom-line is I'd recommend this processor if you are trying to extend the life of an old Socket 754 system, or resurrect one. Shame though is that these Venice cores aren't the easiest ones to find on here, as most of the 754 processors on here are either Clawhammers' or Newcastles'.

Very Good processor! Fast Shipping!
I recieved this iteam in 2 weeks after ordering it. Processor works perfectlly, I succesifully overclocked it from 2.20 GHz to 2.71 GHz. Since I had 1.8 GHz processor before, it is pretty much good speed up. Multiplier is locked on this processor so you can onlly raise fsb, I have put multiplier to be 246*11 = 2706 MHz. I lowered ram frequency to 166 MHz and bumped voltage from stock 1.4V to 1.5V and also voltage of ram from 2.5V to 2.6V and I stress tested the computer with Prime95 for 8 hours and it never showed any error. :) with stock cooling and thermal paste that came with processor, on room temperature of 23 degrees C, after 8 hours of stress testing processor reached 53 degrees C temperature, and that is okay-ish, I ordered new cooler anyway. So overall, you get what you payed for, that is why I gave 5 stars for this processor, newcastle core and calwhammer core are better overclockers.. So if you have old PC like I do, with new 2Gb of DDR400 RAM, and new 256 Mb "ATI Radeon 9550" graphics card, this 2.71 GHz processor will be the needed upgrade for your 10 years old computer. Ofcourse if you are aiming on building a pc for everyday usage (maybe even gaming like Call of Duty 4) with Windows 7 or Windows XP on this configuration. Windows 7 gives 4.4 subscore for this 10 year old cpu, and it gives 7.0 for some intel i7 quad core processors, so yeah.. this little thing is good.. ;)

Great processor for a low price!
I bought this processor to try a budget upgrade over my Pentium 4 HT. The Pentium 4 HT was a good processor, but I thought it was time for upgrade. I have not been using the Athlon 64 3200+ for long, but so far, it's great. I installed my GeForce 9800GT and can play Oblivion at max settings with no lag. IT also does a fine job handling other tasks. I'm going to try some editing on here and see how it goes. Even though my laptop has a Core 2 Duo, it has crappy integrated graphics, which makes it undesirable for editing or gaming. good overclocking potential, great value for a few dollars
For as low as 6.00$ you get the best buy processor for the old socket 754. This processor can be overclocked to 2.5GHz without difficulty. For the older systems every clock increase is highly significant because it can visibly improve speed of the whole system. I wouldn't compare product because it is old technology and comparison would not be fair. If you intend to watch movies and surf the net thi processor is capable of doing that. It smoothly runs 720p and 1080p blu ray rips and other video formats. If you have an old motherboard sittin around buy this processor and you wont regret it. It is always good to have a spare machine if your current suddenly fails.
