As described. I have been curious about kits as I usually design my own cross stitch projects from scratch or get the patterns from books. There are some really lovely ones in here and I will enjoy working with them. My purchase was shipped promptly in secure packaging. I am very happy with my purchase.

Reading EZs Knitter's Almanac is like sitting and having a cup of tea with a friend who just happens to be a master knitter.

I am new to knitting and really want to master this art, so who better to learn from? EZ writes well, draws well, and is a master knitter. This is my third EZ book. I enjoy her little anecdotes along with her instructions. This little book has projects for each month of the year, starting with an Aran Sweater in January, some baby things, small stuff for summer knitting like mittens and hats, a beautiful shawl pattern, "fiddle faddle" Christmas ornaments, leggings, short-sleeve shirts, moccasin socks, and a "last-minute" sweater (to make as a Christmas gift), not to mention them all! The instructions are peppered with her musings and tips along with encouragement to find your own knitting style and also to teach a child to knit (starting with a potholder)! Some of the patterns would ...

  • Elizabeth Zimmermann's Knitters' Almanac

Although Ms Zimmerman does not give stitch by stitch instructions for projects in this book, her step by step allows the knitter to make the project their own. The knitter has the ability to take the "outline" of the pattern and reduce, enlarge embellish however it pleases you. The finished projects themselves are useful and unique. The stories Ms Zimmermann tells as she moves from month to month (there is a project to be worked on in each month's story) are tales that we can all relate to. I found this book to be a great reference and very freeing from the normal patterns that can lock you into only one way of doing a project.

  • Knitters' Almanac by Elizabeth Zimmermann

3/6/09 I had read this book over 15 years ago. Elizabeth's chatty style is fun reading, and she has some fantastic knitting techniques I don't find elsewhere. I bought this book because it is a great reference dispite a need for more actual pictures and/or diagrams. The format of a project for each month allows a beginner knitter (or refreshing skilled knitter as myself) to make useful articles within the course of a year. It is reasonably priced, light weight, small in size and fits in my knitting bag. Perfect!!

  • excellent knitting book

great patterns, but also great reference work

  • A great read

A must-have book for knitters of all levels. If it's beyond your level of expertise, as it is mine, read it anyways. You'll pick up lots of knowledge without even knowing it.
