  • Shakespeare's "The Tempest"

This is the only cinematic version of William Shakespeare's "The Tempest" available in any form. It start John Gielguid (sp?) as Prospero, the deposed Duke of Milan living on a magical island with his daughter Miranda. It is an Italian production but, of course, in English. The budget was obviously limited but still it is excellently done. There is a great deal of nudity in this film. So if that bothers you, stay away. It has never been released commercially on DVDm which is unfortunate. And the VHS has been out of print for quite some time. It's very dificult to find, but if you like Shakespeare, especially if you like "The Tempest", it's well worth the effort to find it.
