We do not know for sure whether the legendary Benjamin Felson, MD, really had an aunt named Minnie, but we do know that it was Felson who created the not-so-sophisticated but oft-used method of radiographic interpretation commonly referred to as the Aunt Minnie approach. The concept is simple: If a woman looks like the Aunt Minnie whom you know well and recognize immediately, then the woman is Aunt Minnie; if the findings on a radiograph look like a pathologic entity that you know well and recognize immediately, then the radiograph is diagnostic of that entity. No need to bother with in-depth analysis, deductive reasoning, or differential diagnoses. This atlas provides more than 250 cases to review diseases that exhibit unique radiographic features (Aunt Minnies). The format is similar to the LWW Teaching Files, but the book includes a variety of modalities as well as take-away points called Aunt Minnie's Pearls. It should be a useful tool for oral board preparation.
