Product Information

If you own a Mac, MacBook Pro, iPad, or other Apple product and love to make music, then the Apogee Duet is the device that you need. Turn any space into your personal sound or music recording studio with the Apogee Duet Digital Recorder. This device was specifically made for the Apple platform (iOS), so it will integrate with Mac applications like Logic Pro, Pro Audio, Pro Tools, or GarageBand easily. This audio interface connects to your Apple product with a FireWire cable, which is located on the backside of the sleek device. The Apogee Duet, with its sleek, aluminum design, pairs well with most Mac products as it is the same color as the MacBook Pro and some iPads. This audio interface has two balanced XLR inputs with 48 volts of phantom power, two unbalanced instrument inputs, two unbalanced line outputs, and a stereo headphone output. The Apogee Duet connects to your computer or iPad with a multi-pin I/O breakout cable, which attaches to the device with a D-Sub connector. Connect your audio equipment to the interface using one of six individual breakout connectors. This means connecting a guitar, mic, or other audio electronics or gear in any way you desire in as many different combinations as you need before you begin recording is a simple process. The Apogee Duet comes with Maestro software, which gives the user software control of all of the functions. To use the Apogee Duet, meet the following specifications on your Apple product: Mac G4, G5, or an Intel CPU with at least 1GB of RAM, OS 10.4.10 or newer, and at least one FireWire 400 port for the FireWire cable connection. The Apogee Duet makes recording songs easy by integrating well with most Apple music or audio programs. When you install the included software, Maestro, it gives you such complete control of your audio that it even installs a dedicated Duet control panel for other programs like GarageBand and Logic Pro. This eliminates the need for opening the Maestro program while using those programs, which frees up disk usage for your creation. For increased sound quality, the Apogee Duet has two mic/instrument gain modes. In maximum mode, it delivers +1- to +75 dB of microphone pre gain. However, this results in an audible click when the gain is adjusted. In clickless mode, the gain is slightly reduced and gain adjustment is quiet. Control and set parameters for MIDI commands and use hardware meters in the program to display input and output levels.     Incredible sound

    If you don’t need many channels of IO, don’t have a rack, but want great sound for home or portable recording, the Duet USB features a fantastic sounding DAC and pres. The built in volume knob and touch screen make basic adjustments a breeze without having to loud up the app on your computer. And class compliance on the Mac makes using this interface seemless not just for recording with logic, but for use in Zoom, etc.

    Chances are you recording setup is missing the apogee duet!

    Apogee Duet is great product for recording audio. It is very versatile and portable. I use when I record on the go as well as in the studio. It is great for the solo artist, acoustic styled music and more. Most other fire-wire recording devices do not sound as good and are not as integrated with Logic Pro audio application. Lastly, install and setup is rather easy and you should be recording music in less than twenty minutes. The only problem that I encountered was a popping/clicking noise when I tried recording; having said that, it was my fire-wire port and not the apogee device. After switching the duet to another fire-wire port the problem was remedied and I was off recording (I used the front port on a G5 PPC). All in all, I'm glad I spent the extra money and got a quality ...

    Mic Preamps are BEEFY and CLEAN, works flawlessly with my iPod Touch

    I was using the Focusrite iTrack Solo which had up to +55dB of mic gain which worked well. Now, with the the Duet, I can access up to +75dB of gain! The Soft Limit feature works extremely well. The Duet's ability to connect with a lightning cable (sold separately for about $30) is a big reason why I bought this.
