Many functions can be controlled effortlessly through the cameras menu system such as the AF assist beam (used to ensure accurate AF in low light situations) Canons amazing E-TTL II flash metering FE lock and flash exposure compensation. Even color temperature information can be transmitted back to the camera with a simple touch so users will achieve great results. Wireless master function (optical) allows multiple flash units to be controlled for creative lighting effects For a number of advanced lighting setups the Speedlite 90EX can be used as a master transmitter to control multiple flash units -- wirelessly! Through 4 channel optical light pulse transmission the Speedlite 90EX can control up to three groups of slave-enabled flashes controlling power from 8:1 to 1:8 in 1/2 stop increments. It can transmit up to approximately 16.4 ft. indoors up to 23 ft. outdoors. With the Speedlite 90EX controlling each light source according to the specific parameters of a shot the creative possibilities are endless! Supports 24mm wide-angle lenses (35mm equivalent) With wide-angle coverage up to 15mm (24mm in 35mm terms) the Speedlite 90EX is designed to work perfectly with a number of popular wide-angle zoom and fixed length lenses.     90EX: a cheap speedlight trigger and a small fill in flash.

    Power wise it is similar to a built in flash. Not strong but useful for fill in. My main use however is to use it to tiger off-camera speedlights. In this mode the 90EX does not contribute to the exposure. The flashes you see ate pre-exposure and juts to send exposure data to the remote (canon compatible) flash. This make the 90EX a cheap speedlight trigger as well as a small fill in flash.

    Nice little flash

    While it is not as powerful as many other Canon flashes that is to expected due to its size. It is the perfect size flash for my Canon M3 and is a marked improvement over the built in flash. It is very easy to pack along with the camera and an extra lens when traveling light and carrying a small bag. It works great for medium ranges such as taking family pictures. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a small flash to carry with their M series Canon just look up the specs and be aware of its limitations do to the small size.

    Strong flash in compact form

    It is better than built-in flashes on other dslr cameras but in small very easy to use package. Performance is very good for indoor use and flash works fully automatic without any problem. I really recommend this flash for Canon mirrorless cameras. Excellent for travel.

    Read the instructions before buying this as a master for remote flashes

    This flash is tiny, smaller than I thought it would be, has no controls, it is all managed in-camera. It is reasonably powerful and better than the built in flash on my EOS Rebel and G12. The flash has one sucky shortfall though. When using it as a master to trigger a remote flash, it does not itself contribute to the exposure. So if you have a 7D like me then it is actually less useful than the in camera flash. Kinda why I bought it, to use on my 7D, trigger a remote flash and contribute a bit of fill light at the same time. Hence it only gets 3/5 because to me it seems somewhat dumb to give it less functionality than a built in flash
