A Good Movie, but...
I went into this film with lowered expectations as Hollywood is notorious for releasing cinematic garbage in the recent plethora of remakes and reboots (Miami Vice, Karate Kid, Footloose to name a few). I am also a fan of Spiderman and was hoping to be ‘wowed’ by this film. And I was…for the action/ CGI sequences only. This film proved that you can have a renowned cast (Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Dennis Leary, Emma Stone, and even C Thomas Howell) and special effects galore, but still miss that critical something that makes a film a masterpiece or even great. Not once did I ever believe that Sheen was ‘Uncle Ben’ or Field was ‘Aunt May’. Stone was the ‘Saving Grace’ of this film as she was completely believable as Gwen. Leary was himself. And as Peter, sorry Andrew, but you are ... All in all, this film is a nice addition to the Spiderman Universe, but is by no means a replacement for the previous Spiderman movies that left its mark in the hearts of Spiderman Fans.

It's never a bad thing to have more Spider-Man!
Even though we still have a Spider Man trilogy fresh in our minds don't let that detract you. While this film sometimes gets stuck rehashing the same origin story as the other films they do have a fresh take on it and different parts. The way Uncle Ben dies for one and Peter's search for and motivation to be Spider Man play out very well. Andrew Garfield aside from stuttering and stammering too much plays a believable Peter Parker. The humor is right and all in all it is a very good movie. The Amazing Spiderman DVD
I purchased "The Amazing Spiderman" DVD for my 4 yr old grandson because he is a big fan of the other 3 movies and he was excited to see a new one out. It was at first confusing because of a change of lead character from the other Spiderman movies, but it wasn't long before we embraced the new guy as the real Spiderman. I liked the new style of special effects technology that seems more real than exaggerated like before.
