Take this film for what it is, the first well written boxing movie, with realistic fight scenes. Rocky makes us belive as few more recient sports movies do that he is a real underdog, with problems. He has more then a few rough edges, these edges give him depth and likability. The writting comes from a place that we can all go to. Mickey being disappointed in Rocky choosing to be a loan shark instead of pushing his natural talent as a boxer. Its easy for the audience to put themselves in Rockys gloves, see things through Rockys somtimes simplistic eyes.Take this film for what it is, the first well written boxing movie, with realistic fight scenes. ROCKY I-V Commemorative 20th Anniversary Gift Set
I bought this set for my 11 year old son. We were at a friend's home and they had one of the Rocky movies playing. My son liked the movie and said he would like to have some of the Rocky movies. I went to ebay as soon as we got home and found this set. I did not tell him I won it on auction until the item arrived and I had him open it up. He has watched it over and over again. He now chats with my friend about these movies and is anxiously anticipating Rocky VI to come out. I am not as excited as he is but will ocassionally sit and watch some with him or my husband will sit with him. Takes me back to my much younger years. Now my son would like to see the Rambo series. Sly has definitely improved over the years. My son says overall it is excellent and he likes everything about it.I bought this set for my 11 year old son.
