About this product

Product Information

Sydney Pollack directs Robert Redford and Barbra Streisand in this sensitive and moving tale of the romance of two individuals whose political ideologies are exact opposites. Streisand won an Academy Award nomination for her performance as Katie Morosky, a Jewish student radical who falls in love with Hubbell Gardner (Redford), a conservative privileged writer. The two interact from the beginning of their college courtship through the Hollywood-blacklisting era of the 1950s.

  • A true classic

Streisand and Redford - need one say anything more? The most unforgettable scene. Streisand character sees Redford asleep sitting at bar during WWII. She had crush on him in college. She goes over and gently sweeps his bangs from his forehead. At the end of the film, she does thing - years later. Shocking at the time - a good Jewish girl gets naked and crawls into bed with a deeply sleeping very goyish guy - it's the superlative story of a mismatched couple falling in love.

  • The Way We Were

Barbara Stresiand and Robert Redford in the same movie. Wow. Never expected it to be good. And I never expected Barbara Streisand to be so perfect in it even outshining Robert Redford in different scenes. Now if she could be more selective with her movie roles and abstained from films like Meet the Fockers and Little Fockers.
