There are a few things that have been disputed oe deemed incorrect such as some of the markings the book depicts with new info coming out of Russia (Ex. DDR and MO markings). Overall, a great reference book for the collector and a good place for a beginner to start.

I highly recommend this book. It has numerous photos and explanations of the various rifle models and modifications. It blends history with the various production models from the major producer's of the SKS. I would highly recommend this for any gun enthusiast's library, but especially if you own an SKS rifle. This book will save you time and money by laying out how it's put together with modifications over time. It also talks about the various types of ammunition and issues affecting the rifle's fuctions. I currently own and have owned SKS rifles and knew generally their heritage. This book showed me that all I had learned so far was but a drop compared to the rich background of these rifles. This book contains many, many illustrations, tables, photos,serial numbers, and diagrams to help the reader understand the mechanics of maintaining and repairing the SKS. Not only that, but also the many variations of the SKS are explained. This book makes for very good reading if you have any interest in the SKS rifle and accessories.I currently own and have owned SKS rifles and knew generally their heritage.
