Upon discovering that a psychotic serial killer has been using his writings as inspiration, legendary author Edgar Allan Poe (John Cusack) joins forces with a bright, young Baltimore detective to catch the maniac and end his reign of terror. The Raven - Missing the intensity of the real Poe!
The premise of this film is that a serial killer is committing grisly murders in the fashion of the works of the famous Edgar Allan Poe. John Cusack stars as the celebrated author, who despite his usually intense portrayals, seems detached here and lacks the emotional connection to the story. Luke Evans, as Inspector Fields, seems to be the prominent character here. Good supporting actors Alice Eve and Brendon Gleason do their best to keep the events interesting. If you write off the blood and gore, the most interesting factor is the atmospheric set decoration.
