About this product

Product Information

Hard-hitting detective Mike Hammer (Ralph Meeker) takes on thugs and atomic secrets in Robert Aldrich's fast-paced thriller KISS ME DEADLY, an adaptation of the Mickey Spillane novel. The night goes awry for Hammer soon after he picks up a scantily clad hitchhiker (Cloris Leachman). The next thing he knows, he's assaulted by a couple of goons and the sultry drifter turns up dead. As Hammer tracks down the murderers, he realizes he is involved in an international conspiracy--one that could cost him his life. Generally considered to be the best of the many films centering on Spillane's classic protagonist and lauded as a primary inspiration and building block for the French Nouvelle Vague, KISS ME DEADLY boasts nightmarish imagery, a careening, sinuous plot, and an unforgettable shock ending.

A Hot, Film Noir Movie With A Literal, Radio-Active Climax

"Kiss Me Deadly" is one of the must-see, film noir movies and it is on every, film critic's, best list. Ralph Meeker turns in a solid performance as the hard-boiled, lowlife P.I., Mike Hammer. He's in pursuit of a deadly prize despite being told to lay off the case by the real cops. It's a race to the truly, radio-active finish with some of the nastiest gangsters you ever laid your eyes on in hot pursuit. This movie is a no-nonsense, nitty-gritty portrayal of one of Mickey Spillane's best. See for yourself.

  • too hot to handle

One of the greatest noir films, with many twists and variations on themes generally associated with the genre. Ralph Meeker, as Mike Hammer, is one of the hottest noir 'heroes': a hunk, tough, handsome, a playboy. And, like all the best, a bit of a mysogynist. He pimps out his lover/secretary and makes his living milking sleazy divorce cases. But he gets mixed up in a case that sounds so big, it must be worth a fortune, even though he doesn't know what its all about. He just knows a lot of people want 'great whatsit', are willing to kill for it, and it must be valuable. Bringing in elements of 50's paranoia, the bad guys are government agents. Mike discovers the hard way that the mystery has something to do with nuclear fision. You will love the cars, the decor, and Mike's wall-mounted ...

Must have for any serious Noir enthusiast.

  • Classic noir ahead of its time

Classic mid-'50s noir, with standout performances from the under-rated Ralph Meeker as Mike Hammer, with the feature film debut of the 29 year old Cloris Leachman, whose memorable signature style from "The Last Picture Show" is well on display here in a small but impacting role. Many years ahead of is time, this A-Bomb/Cold War thriller still works well. Arguably the best of all the Mike Hammer entries.

  • title fits this movie to a "T"

I like this type of film. kind of a historian as I watch a lot of this type film as a kid. also was looking for other character actors such as jack elam. probably not a good fit for some folks but right down my alley.
