A Police Drama With Lots of Action and Famous Stars of the 1950s
Glenn Ford plays tough guy and competent cop David Bannion in this 1953 movie about a small town mob and its control and infiltration of the small town. Investigating a cop's apparent suicide, David grows more suspicious as an informant questions the decision. David lets the investigation get to him and soon his family pays the consequences. His loving wife played by Jocelyn Brando particularly pays the price. Enter a mobster's girl Debby Marsh played by Gloria Grahame, who has been maimed by boyfriend Vincent Stone (Lee Marvin). She provides the catalyst for a turn of events that climax the movie to a surprising end. Also in the cast is pre Virginian TV show Jeanette Nolan and as another call girl you will see Carolyn Jones.
