Your axe will squeal over this deal

Out of the box this pedal looks nice, is lightweight, and uses a metal housing. Sounds pretty standard right? except this pedal costs less than $20! When you add in the fact that this metallic black device can satisfy most Metalheads need for sonic destruction and it becomes a sweet deal. Mechanically everything works as it should and nothing about this unit feels cheap to me. It is completely capable of creating sweet lead tones all the way to thumping palm muted lines. This is now my go to distortion pedal for the podcast i'm on. The FAB Metal distortion unit has 3 knobs, level, tone and gain. That's all that is needed in a good pedal and this is a GOOD pedal. It isn't perfect though. Earlier I mentioned how it can satisfy MOST metal heads needs? While it can dip into hard rock ...

    Fab "weak" metal pedal

I use this pedal as more of an over drive pedal .. if You are looking for a " Metal" pedal, the " FAB" is no player in this category. I have it paired with a Digitech " Hot Head" pedal. The main volume level could use some tweaking as could the gain. But what do you expect for a pedal that only costs $15. If you a beginner and don't want spend a tonne of cash make then pair this pedal with a harsh distortion and a noise-gate.... all one this pedal is not that noisy, but when paired it can give off some humming noise..... Overall i would give this pedal a 6 out of 10 !

  • Surprised Me

This little Danelectro Fab Metal pedal has a lot more grind than I thought it would. I first tried it out using a battery, apparently the battery was a little low, and it sounded a bit gargly but when I plug in my power supply the Fab came to life. I think it has very good bang for the buck. The tone control has good range and sound. The only thing that could be improved would be a less sensitive gain control, a very small turn makes big change, but than again you might not need to change it ounce you set it. I don’t think you could buy any better metal pedal for this price. I like it!. Kerry Donahue ( musician for years )

  • Very cool vibe

I bought this particular pedal on a whim. It was on sale at a local chain, used. I think this was the first pedal I ever bought. If you want distortion and some strange and unique sounds, then look into this pedal. As I said, being my first pedal I wasn't sure what to expect. WELL, EXPECT EVERYTHING! I was playing the Star Spangled Banner ala Jimi the same afternoon. Danelectro products have been around for a long time. I happen to like thier "feel", and have purchased several sets. I did spend some time putting together the blues board and the metal board, with the smaller Danelectro line of pedals. I like the size and price of those pedals, can pick some up at the pawn shop for $10 bucks. Bad part is the smaller pedals can be noisy,(here's where you can spend some money...cables), Having ...

  • A bit tinny and thin

Much like the BOSS Metal Zone, this pedal is best used for solos and lead guitar, but not with chords or rhythm guitar. It has that 'wasp in a tin can' sound. There is a lot of gain, even at moderate settings. To tame the treble, I roll down the tone knob until it is almost off, which can make it sound almost usable enough for rhythm guitar, and even some classic rock. The plastic enclosure of the pedal feels sturdy. Most of the weight of the pedal comes from the metal plate on the bottom. The pedal has a buffered bypass (i.e. not true bypass). The buffer is satisfactory. If a person asked me which budget 'metal' pedal they should go for, I would recommend the Behringer Ultra Metal (a BOSS Metal Zone clone), which can give you the same sound as this one, but also give you more controls ...
