About this product

Product Information

Acclaimed journalist Jeffrey Toobin takes us into the chambers of the most important--and secret--legal body in our country, the Supreme Court, revealing the complex dynamic among the nine people who decide the law of the land. An institution at a moment of transition, the Court now stands at a crucial point, with major changes in store on such issues as abortion, civil rights, and church-state relations. Based on exclusive interviews with the justices and with a keen sense of the Court's history and the trajectory of its future, Jeffrey Toobin creates in The Nine a riveting story of one of the most important forces in American life today.

  • The Nine is a definite must read!!

This is a really interesting book. If you love the legal system and have a fascination with the Supreme Court, you're gonna love this book. It goes inside the lives and opinions of the nine most influential legal figures in the United States. You will get to know a little about their lives outside the courtroom, why they were nominated, their opinions on some of the most important cases in history--and you might even be surprised to find out how each one voted on liberal and conservative issues. There's a lot of legal jargon of course, but most of it is pretty easy to interpret. Altogether great read!!

  • The Nine by Jeffrey Toobin

I heard him speak about this book and went out the next day to get it. It was fascinating to learn about the personalities and philosophies of the Supreme Court justices and the intracacies of the interactions that go into making decisions. I say a MUST read!

  • Fascinating

When I closed this book for the last time, it felt like I was saying goodbye to a long-time friend. The original I read was a library copy. I decided I wanted to own this book.
