About this product
Product Information
As a magical revolution remakes a city, an ancient evil is awakened in a brilliant new novel from the Hugo-nominated author of Foundryside and the Divine Cities trilogy Having narrowly saved the metropolis of Tevanne from destruction, Sancia Grado and her allies have turned to their next task: sowing the seeds of a full-on magical-industrial revolution. If they succeed, the secrets behind scriving--the art of imbuing everyday objects with sentience--will be accessible to all of Tevanne's citizens, much to the displeasure of the robber-barons who've hoarded this knowledge for themselves. But one of Sancia's enemies has embarked on a desperate gambit, an attempt to resurrect a figure straight out of legend--an immortal being known as a heirophant. Long ago, the heirophant was an ordinary man, but he's used scriving to transform himself into something closer to a god. Once awakened, he'll stop at nothing to remake the world in his horrifying image. And if Sancia can't stop this ancient power from returning? Well, the only way to fight a god...is with another god.

Reviews
" Shorefall is a slice of genius slathered with unfiltered madness; it is an innovation on invention. I want to scrive in this world, to create and experiment with Berenice and Orso, to scale towers and improvise with Sancia, to fight battles and defend my friends with Gregor. I loved this book." --Fantasy Book Review "The large-scale conflicts, new characters, and climactic ending set the stage for more exciting action and adventure to come in the complex, ever-expanding world of the series." -- Booklist (starred review) "Bennett's characterization . . . strikes a perfect balance between terror and allure. This thrilling installment will leave readers eager for the series finale." -- Publishers Weekly "An expertly spun yarn by one of the best fantasy writers on the scene today." -- Kirkus Reviews, Praise for Foundryside "Absolutely riveting . . . I felt fully, utterly engaged by the ideas, actually in love with the core characters . . . and in awe of Bennett's craft. I went to bed late reading it and woke up early to finish it. . . . A magnificent, mind-blowing start to a series I'm hungry for." --Amal El-Mohtar, The New York Times Book Review "An epic, breathtaking novel that's as much cyberpunk as it is fantasy. . . . Bennett lays out a fantastic story ladened with fantastic characters, but it's his take on magic [as computer code] that stands out here." -- The Verge "The exciting beginning of a promising new epic fantasy series. Prepare for ancient mysteries, innovative magic, and heart-pounding heists." --Brandon Sanderson "[Featuring] a distinctive setting and a defined and . . . novel technology of magic . . . [this] is magic-plus-industrialization with a grimy feel about it, far removed from the green world of Tolkien's Middle-earth." -- The Wall Street Journal "Promises to be a home-run series for Bennett . . . [featuring] expert writing, complicated and distinct characters, and an intriguing, deadly, wonderful new city called Tevanne, where reality can be shuffled like a deck of cards." -- Tordotcom "Funny, exciting, pacy, and gory, this terrific novel promises greater things to come." -- Daily Mail "Complex characters, magic that is tech and vice versa, a world bound by warring trade dynasties: Bennett will leave you in awe once you remember to breathe!" --Tamora Pierce, "The book I've most thoroughly and uncomplicatedly enjoyed this year so far. It shocked and delighted and upset me from page to page, managing to thread humor and pathos and intrigue together with the speed and precision of a loom. Its comments on our present moment are so deft and sly that when they turn earnest it's deeply affecting . . . [and] sometimes brought me to tears. . . . I'm so excited to see what happens next." -- Amal El-Mohtar, The New York Times " Shorefall is a slice of genius slathered with unfiltered madness; it is an innovation on invention. I want to scrive in this world, to create and experiment with Berenice and Orso, to scale towers and improvise with Sancia, to fight battles and defend my friends with Gregor. The transaction was fine.
My only issue was that the book was advertised as “Like New” but the seller neglected to mention that there was a “From the library of…” sticker right when you open the book. Had I known about that, I wouldn’t have purchased it. But other than that, the book was in solid form, the price was right and securely and promptly delivered.
A good seller overall.
If I’m looking to buy from them again, I’ll know to ask detailed questions.

The items are as described. The seller took great care with the packing, and the books arrived in good order as described. I appreciate the attention to detail in the packing, and the extra outlays for packing material. Mailing costs were reasonable given the weight of the items. Count me as quite satisfied. Certainly I would do business again with this seller.
