This 4 disc boxed set features episodes 183-201, the first in the TV series to be done in color. There are a number of extra features including a listing of each episode title & brief summary. Bios, photos, trailers & The Lone Ranger Creed are included in disc 4. Picture quality is not up today's standards, but quite acceptable. What makes the series so memorable is the way the Lone Ranger & Tonto go about fighting for law & order, justice and helping people without thanks, recognition, or personal gain. The Lone Ranger color episodes from the 50's
This is the complete set of Lone Ranger color episodes, filmed in the early 50's. These were shown on TV; but, since color TV wasn't around yet, you only got to watch them in B&W. These also were run in theaters in Matinee's. You remember, you could bring in 15 bread wrappers; or 25 Candy bar wrappers, etc., and you could watch this weeks episode of the Lone Ranger; and, Rocketman. This is the best of the Lone Ranger series. Best acting, best directing, and best writing. Filmed entirely in California, these episodes look like the real old west. Jay Silverheels, the best Tonto of any of the Lone Ranger series, is outstanding in these films; and, Clayton Moore is the Lone Ranger. Of course Silver, is Silver! Setup for full screen viewing without distortion, these episodes look great ... This is the complete set of Lone Ranger color episodes, filmed in the early 50's. Not bad. Just as I remembered it as a kid in the 50's. The color episodes were nice to watch compared to the prior black and white ones. Wish it would have continued, but I guess all good things must come to an end.
