    Best jazz recording ever.

    I've been a total jazz lover for the last 40 years. I needed to reconnect with Miles, Trane, and Julian. All gone way too soon: Miles in 1991, Trane in 1967, Cannonball in 1975. This recording justifiably is one of the best, if not THE best in jazz history. Focus by Stan Getz would be a close second. I had Kind of Blue twice before but wore out the cds from playing them too much. It's just nice to hear 3 of the greatest jazz musicians making oh so sweet music.

    Even if you’ve never “gotten” Jazz before, you’ll be a fan after hearing Miles Davis’ masterpiece, “Kind of Blue.” No music collection is complete without “Kind of Blue,” whether this is your only Jazz album, or whether you have a library. “Kind of Blue” is an incredible musical journey, all the more remarkable since it was recorded on the first take without any prior rehearsing – it just couldn’t be improved. This also means it maintains the sense of spontaneity that is essential to Jazz and that is notably missing from many other Jazz recordings. “Kind of Blue” will appeal to any listener.     MILES DAVIS: KIND OF BLUE - WOW!

    What can I say, "It's Miles Davis baby at his best." This cd s is a staple in my life, on my Ipod and played for every occasion. Around the Holidays, cooling out in the office or while I work, driving in the car or when the gang is over and we want to talk and have the perfect backdrop for the conversation. Truly excellent. It really shows how much of a genius Miles was to have sketched out the parts for the musicians that joined him, just hours before! Jimmy Cobb was right when he said, "This album was made in heaven." Because it's perfect. All the important elements came together, effortlessly. John Coltrane on tenor saxophone, Cannonball Adderley on Alto Saxophone, Bill Evans on piano, Wynton Kelly piano - song # 2, Jimmy Cobb on drums. And Miles on trumpet ...

    Kind of Miles

    A definitive sign of the times is Miles' Kind of Blue. He once said that he was all about the blues and spent the remainder of his life after this masterpiece pursuing just that although his efforts to expand on his own musical expression took on many forms he always was about the blues. Possibly the most renown innovator in the history of jazz, demonstrating to the music world that music, especially jazz is first and foremost about exploration and movement and Miles never stayed long in one place.
