GREAT MUSICIAN~VIOLIN PLAYER~CDN IDOL

Fabulous starting CD
"Canadian Idol"'s second year produced this young superstar in the making. His voice is pure and clean, without the annoying warbling that's so prevalent in most music currently on the scene. He is not just a pretty voice, either. An accomplished musician, he's a master of violin and viola as well as excellent with guitar and piano. His style is both sad and sweet, light and hard. Kalan proved time and again that he can not only sing ballads, but can rock with the best of them. He is truly a young Canadian to watch. This CD, produced by the meat grinder that is "Idol", still manages to showcase his ability to perform despite the lack of personal creative input. That said, he was able to co-write a couple of notable songs on the disc. Also present is legendary Randy Bachmann on the song ... Second place winner Theresa Sokyrka performs a duet with Kalan on Cyndi Lauper's hit, "True Colours". The hits that spawned music videos are "Single" and "In Spite Of It All". Also included is the smash single that broke Canadian records by being the first song to go eight times platinum in its first run: "Awake In A Dream". If you're looking for a showcase for this amazing young man, then look no further. I highly recommend this CD to anyone looking for a piece of Canadian history and for those looking for a varied musical experience that is not run-of-the-mill pop. Additional information: This is Kalan Porter's debut CD, followed by "Wake Up Living" which was made in a time of personal crisis and shows the depth of emotion that he can reach. He is currently (June 2009) working on his third album and is sure to be a hit. Look for it later this year. Thank you for reading this review. I sincerely hope that you will support Canadian talent and get yourself a slice of history in the making. Kalan Porter will be a superstar. Watch and see.
