    Perfect priming tool

I have installed about 600-700 primers with this tool. It is very ergonomic and comfortable on the hand! It accepts any brand shell holder which was a huge selling point to me! Very solid feel. The small and large primer trays are easy to change out with no small parts to mess with. Everything is metal except the trays and even the plastic trays feel of decent quality material. Only complaint is occasionally a primer will turn over in the area between the tray and where the press operates. I think they could make it of tighter tolerance to fix but it only happens once or twice per hundred primers. I just visually check every primer for correct orientation before pressing it in. Of course checking it again afterwards. Also I feel like they could do a little better on the price (I paid $45). ...

    Lyman priming tool

I have had some problems with this priming tool. I use an RCBS shell holder and have to make sure the primer is in the tool correctly. When loading a new primer they have a tendency to stand up on edge or completely roll upside down. I have just primed 1500 9MM luger and about one out of every 25 CCI 500 primers are upside down or on there side. Just too much slop in the tool. Tolerances should be a little tighter. I do not seem to have any problem with my RCBS hand priming tool. I just do not like to have to tear it apart to change from small to large primer. I should have purchased another RCBS hand priming tool and saved the headaches. But the Idea with the lyman is great just needs some refining. It is also excessively large since I have small hands.

  • Works great

I have been using the old style Lee autoprime for over 30 years (purchaseing old stock on ebay because they do wear out) and I was getting permanant pain in my thumb. I wanted to find a replacement. The new Lee products jam constantly because of the primer safety lift mechanism. Also tried RCBS, Honady and then Lyman. Lyman is by far the easiest to use and more ergonomic than any other.

  • Stroke too short to work as advertised.

Will not properly set a large primer using any of the advertised shell holders. I will work with a special Redding competition shell holder that is thinner by design allowing the ram to fully seat the primer, but they are only sold in sets of 5 for $85 dollars. I like the unit design, but the need to increase the ram stroke to make use of Lee, Pacific, Hornady, or RCBS shell holders.

  • Bad product!

I normally love Lyman products and have a number of them. However, when I received this product, it would not seat primers all of the way. I even tried shell holders made by Lyman, Hornady, Lee, and RCBS thinking it might be the shell holder, but it was not. The primers stuck out past the end of the shell casing. I have years of reloading experience and have never had this happen with any other priming tool. Was disapointed.
