About this product

Product Information

After a New York harbor patrolman is murdered at the hands of a flesh-hungry ghoul aboard what was believed to be an abandoned yacht, Anne (Tisa Farrow)--the daughter of the ship's missing owner--teams up with a newspaper reporter named Peter West (Ian McCulloch) for a private investigation. With the help of a pair of sightseers, they travel to the secluded Caribbean island of Matul, where Anne's father was last seen conducting medical research. There, they meet his colleague, Dr. Menard (Richard Johnson), who frantically attempts to find a scientific explanation for a phenomenon that has plagued the island; it seems as if the dead refuse to stay dead. The locals believe a voodoo curse is at work as scores of animated corpses rise from their graves to hungrily seek out live flesh. Anne learns her father has died, but before she and the others can return to civilization, they are forced into battle with a plethora of bloodthirsty zombies. Italian maestro Lucio Fulci's most lucrative outing features an abundance of shockingly gruesome sequences filmed in the director's regular close-up style, wasting none of frequent collaborator Giannetto De Rossi's amazing makeup effects. The ominous synthesizer soundtrack by Fabio Frizzi splendidly shrouds the action with simplistic, yet catchy hooks that are sure to continue buzzing in viewer's mind long after the film's spine-chilling ending. Released abroad as a sequel to George A. Romero's DAWN OF THE DEAD, produced by Dario Argento in Italy as ZOMBI.

Zombie the only movie that scared me

What a scary movie. When I was younger I tried to watch this movie it took seven times going to the movies and I still haven't seen the hold movie. Now I'm going to try again. Wish me good luck.

  • WE ARE GOING TO EAT YOU!

Lucio Fulci joins the rank of Italy's top horror specialists with this 1979 breakthrough zombie epic. An English journalist (Ian McCulloch) and a missing scientist's daughter (Tisa Farrow, sister of Mia) try to uncover the reason behind a series of mysterious deaths caused by the undead. Shot in the wake of DAWN OF THE DEAD also called ZOMBI in Italy, which is the reason why the movie I am reviewing is called ZOMBI 2. It is a Fulci film that cannot be descibed in words or even in adjectives. The zombies definitly outclass Romero's walking dead all within the creatity of stunning, realistic make-up effects. The actors who I think are in prime game are McCulloch and the always underappreciated Al Cliver. I am not saying this is better than DAWN OF THE DEAD, but it is a flesh-eating ...

  • A Zombie Classic!

Anyone who has yet to see Fulci's Living Dead classic should go out a get it now. These older Dead films are what all the new ones stem from. i.e. Dawn of the Dead, 28 Days/Weeks Later, etc. Zombie starts off like it is going to be your regular variety of 70's cheese, but moves quickly into the plot including nice scenes(!), bloody gore and very realistic walking dead zombies. Good Stuff!

  • Zombie

Movie review courtesy of Deathgrind.com: Zombie : Lucio Fulci : 1979 : 5/5 : My favourite zombie movie… Fulci’s best movie on the subject. A police officer is attacked by a strange man on a yacht. It turns out the yacht belongs to a doctor who was on a tropical island conducting some kind of experiment. His daughter and a journalist both set off for the island to find out the fate of the girl’s father, despite the warnings of the denizens of the nearby islands that the island is cursed.
