About this product

Product Information

Kid Icarus: Uprising, know as New Light Mythology: Palutena's Mirror in Japan, was the first Kid Icarus title in more than 15 years with the previous release launching in 1991. At the helm of this Nintendo 3DS game is Masahiro Sakurai, who was tasked with bringing Kid Icarus to a new generation. To do this, his team made this iteration a retelling of the Kid Icarus story rather than a sequel. The hero, Pit, who is a servant of the Goddess of Light Palutena, must defeat Medusa and her hordes before they can capture the goddess. The campaign also adds new elements, such as Pit fighting the dark force behind Medusa's resurrection and a doppelganger of himself called Dark Pit. If you're never played the previous Kid Icarus games, you'll be able to follow the story easily. While previous games in the Kid Icarus series were 2-D platformers, Kid Icarus: Uprising for the 3DS is a third-person shooter. Pit will fight in both the air and on the ground in this action game. In the air, Pit has no control over where he flies. Your only job is to blast all the enemies out of the sky before they hit you. On the ground, the title opens up as Pit is able to walk around freely. Here, he can use a mixture of both long-range and melee attacks to slay his foes. While the original game only gave Pit a bow, this Nintendo 3DS title offers players access to a variety of weapons. In addition to the bow, there are also claws, swords, clubs, and even cannons. Each weapon has its own strengths and weaknesses, and each one offers unique gameplay. As you defeat enemies, you'll gain hearts, which you can use to purchase new accessories for Pit. The game is divided into multiple chapters with each culminating in a boss fight. Each boss battle will push your skills as a gamer to the limit. These bosses are huge, often taking up both screens on the 3DS. If you're finding the battles against Medusa and the underworld too easy, you can increase the difficulty. Called Intensity in the game, there are nine different levels of difficulty. On the easiest difficulty, 0.0, the game is accessible for gamers of all skill levels. Crank it up all the way to 9, however, and you're in for the challenge of your life. By having an adjustable difficulty with many scales, gamers can tailor this Nintendo title to their ideal challenge. When you're ready to test your skills globally, you can opt for the multiplayer portion of Kid Icarus: Uprising. You can play either with your friends or with players from around the world via Wi-Fi on the Nintendo 3DS. Multiplayer is split into a number of modes. Regardless of which mode you select, the goal is still the same: destroy your opponents. The team with the most kills wins the match. Kid Icarus: Uprising is playable on any version of the Nintendo 3DS and is also one of the few games compatible with the Circle Pad Pro accessory. Kid Icarus: Uprising sold thousands of copies upon release, and this 3DS title from Nintendo brought the franchise to a new generation and featured plenty of action. Kid Icarus: Uprising is one title that deserves to be in any 3DS collection of video games.

    Great sound and graphics

This game isn't easy to play! The controls are very poorly thoughts out. They want you to shoot with your left trigger finger, steer Pit with your left thumb, and control your target marker with the stylus. I haven't play much but I'm hoping I can find a better set up as I have read that the controls are very easy to customize! The graphics and sound are great! I'd love to see them make another side scroll game!

    Not bad, but disappointing

I loved the old Kid Icarus back in the day, and I was hoping for something that would really pay tribute to it, but this really isn't that. It plays completely different and feels a little bit like a show piece for the 3DS rather than a game made for its own sake. Control is designed to use the stylus to aim and one hand on the 3DS which is unwieldy. Luckily it comes with a stand for your 3DS which does work very nicely, but its such a different game it really doesn't do Kid Icarus justice. That said, graphics are great and it's not a bad game taken on its own. There are options to change the controls so you don't have to use the stylus but they feel imprecise.

  • While controls are not perfect, the whole game nearly is!

When I was out to but a Nintendo 3DS XL, I saw this game, seeing how I liked the image of this franchise in the Wii's Super Smash Brothers Brawl title, I decided to buy it and give it a whirl. It was my first 3DS title and I'm SOOOO glad it was. To begin, this game, as visually stunning as it is (even the 3D component works well with them), is extremely hard to categorize; it's an action-packed adventure with loads of arcade-like fighting and third-person shooting (there's a first-person view as well). Nevertheless, as intense as that might sound, its not as violent as it sounds either. This game has an awesome Solo mode where you mainly control the angel, Pit, who serves the Goddess of Light, Palutena, who vies to help humanity from its own woes and wars while ...

  • Kid Icarus: Uprising: Why It's NOT BAD!

I was skeptical when I saw many average (or bad) reviews of Kid Icarus: Uprising from popular game magazines and websites. Critics complained primarily about the controls. Still, I chose to buy the game hoping I could look past the alleged problems and enjoy a game crafted by the legendary producer of Super Smash Bros. Brawl -- Masahiro Sakurai. First of all, the gameplay is a blast. Single player consists of rather short levels that are split between air and ground battles. The air battles are ride-the-rails style, while the ground portions allow you to move Pit through the stage and discover treasures and secret rooms that hold different weapons, items, and powers. The exploration elements of the ground stages are linear but welcomed to contrast with the player's lack of ...

  • super funny and super fun

you get to fly around and shoot things! there are so many customization options! You can play the game at whatever difficulty you like! The voice acting is hilarious and great! Not for people who get motion sickness haha XD the only issue is that the control scheme tends to give your left hand cramps, but ah, well. It's still very fun!
