    A good read!

    This little short novel is exactly what I needed on a rainy day.. written by Colleen McCollough, who wrote the Thornbirds. It takes place in Australia just before WW1, in a small town outback where the heroin spinster gets the one-up on the whole town! This one is a keeper.

    Don't bother.

    Not very well written, some questionable plot devices, and if you've read "The Blue Castle" by LM Montgomery you'll realize there's almost a case for plagiarism.
