The “Tokyo Dream” concert on CD/DVD.... Finally!
I purchased this CD/DVD set from Amazon. I am one of probably one of a handful of people who actually still owns the Japanese laser disc of this historic concert having purchased it from Japan back when it was released in the mid to late 80’s. I still have it by the way. With that said I’ve watched and listened to this show dozens of times over the past 35 years and am very familiar with it. The original audio soundtrack on the Japanese laser disc was actually analog, not digital. Most people will have a difficult time believing that but that is a fact. The audio on the laser disc is not great and was never mastered properly when they released the laser disc. The levels are far too low and as a result the signal to noise ratio is out of sorts and there is a lot of background hiss in ... I purchased this CD/DVD set from Amazon. This newly remastered CD edition of the “Tokyo Dream” laser disc concert is much better than the audio found on the original laser disc but still has room for improvement. For example: While there is a lot less hiss during the quieter passages there is still enough hiss present to be distracting. This could have been removed using the right mastering software/plugins to the point where all of the hiss could have been taken out. I should also mention that I have mixed and mastered over 50 commercially released recordings in the past 20 years and I do this work for a living so I have a lot of experience in audio production. Overall this is a welcome addition to your Holdsworth collection and a reminder to all of us just how great Allan was and how no one will ever be able to take his place. Buy it before it goes out of print! Performance = 10/10 Sound Quality = 8/10 Artwork/Packaging = 8/10

No DVD video
The CD sound quality is excellent but I thought a DVD was a part of the deal. It was a cd/dvd audio, not a picture DVD. I wouldn't have bought it if I had known that.
