Great circuit, cheap box and pots, but I knew that going in!

I missed my vintage superfuzzz... okay, when I had a ton of vintage fuzzes before they became collector's items I used to own an original, early 70s univox superfuzz with pink and blue cosmetics and in a fit of frustration with how finicky she could be with different guitars and amps I sold her for a huge profit (also, the footswitch was sketchy as hell and she had to be run on a looper for reliable switching, but as her value rose I was afraid to replace ANYTHING inside her with new, functional parts even if they were drop-in replacements).. see my review of the univox. I knew that the boss fz2 hyperfuzz was a modified univox and discovered that even though boss discontinued the hyperfuzz, the vile Uri Behringer copied the fz2 as his superfuzz. I got mine for 25 bucks shipped on ...

    Bad Unit!

Should've known this was a pump-fake deal, because these pedals are hard to get and this one came in less than a week! Pedal lights up but barely any sound at all! Tried 3 different guitars and cables and amps, same result! NOTHIN!!! Definetly Returning and buyin Boss Super Fuzz!

  • Good For Picking/Chords on a Bass Guitar

I bought this for use with a bass guitar. Pros: Inexpensive, a nice range of adjustments you can make for dialing in a tone. It sounds really great when using a pick or when playing chords. It's a usable pedal for both guitar and bass. Cons: It has the plastic hinges and push pins that I don't like. When adjusting the gain it very quickly becomes too much gain for anything practical other than trying to make an effect. It can be difficult to dial in a good tone for fingerstyle, I find that I have to keep the gain way down and boost the treble to get a nice clear sound. Though it's something I enjoy playing around with and for $23 it's worth it even if I only get one sound out of it that I like.

  • super cool fuzz sounds waiting for you.

it's simple.this pedal sounds incredible ! both fuzz options are terrific.and the boost function is outstanding.it's worth the price just as a clean boost. the plastic box? it is what it is!take care of it,and it will take care of you!!! i play old vintage guitars with original pickups and they all sound great with this thing! buy one.and have fun.

  • Same internal electronice as the more expensive brands.

Has the same internal components as the more expensive BOSS unit for a lot less money. The biggest difference is a plastic case instead of metal. I just play at home so it's no big deal.
