    Blu- ray was the only that needed adding to this classic-and a great job was done on that process. Not just a by-the-numbers re-do.

    As good as the day it was made. Jack at his finest. Shelly Duvall, Scatman Cruthers and others provide great support. Visually gripping too!

    Stanley Kubrick, Jack Nicholson in a Stephen King adaptation! Any questions

    Ok 1st it's Stanley Kubrick which should be enough right there! A fantastic director whose only bad movie in my opinion is Barry Lyndon, but I digress. 2nd it's Jack Nicholson in one of his most memorable roles, I mean who hasn't quoted "Here's Johnny!" 3rd it's just a fantastic movie & adaptation of Stephen Kings great novel. Lastly this is the best this movie has looked. The Blu-ray transfer is fantastic, the colors pop & it's like seeing the movie again for the 1st time. Again Highly Recommended!

    The Blu-ray format is a marked improvement over the DVD version.

    I am not reviewing the content here only the Blu-ray tranfer. The picture is beautifully restored and it is matted in 16:9 aspect ratio. Covering the helocopter shadow in the opening sequence that Kubrick had intended for the theatrical release. The sound improvement is less dramatic, but noticable. There are no low frequency effects and what surround effects there are can be counted on one hand it seems. Not the dics you will use to show off your system, but the ultimate way to enjoy this masterpiece.

    Two Horror Films for a Decent Price

    The Shining: Five stars!! A classic horror masterpiece! That is all that needs to be said about it!! Hanibal Risiing: Three stars for the movie itself. It's a good 'backstory' feature, well directed, well acted, and especially satisfying if, like most film fans, you've seen Silence of the Lambs, at the very least. So, given the obvious audience/market for this blu-ray (which, incidentally, looks great), you'd think that you'd get a few bonus features with the flick. But... nothing. Not even an audio commentary. No 'making of...', no background not the lead actor. Zip. And, for those who need this information, no subtitles, either.

    Movie from my childhood still a great addition to any horror collection.
