This Focusrite digital recording Interface has two Loopback inputs that allow audio rooting to other software applications through mixControl. With a 16x8 DSP mixer, this audio interface takes less than 1.4 ms to configure mixing. The VST/AU Plugin Suite of this Focusrite digital recording Interface enhances the level of sequencer effects. Front panel 5-LED metering for individual inputs of this interface provide detailed view of audio levels from the front panel. The Focusrite Saffire PRO 24 has two preamps that reduce sound distortion giving you clear audio output.

      OK preamps, OK ADCs, I would prefer USB over Firewire

      First of all, you need a Firewire 400 card with the Texas Instruments chipset. I use one by LaCie. I've never really used the DSP features of the Saffire, since I have plenty of effects in my DAW. The Mix Control software is kind of cryptic, so you have to read the manual and experiment. I got the Black Lion mods done, but I still was not satisfied with the quality of the preamps and I eventually bought an expensive outboard preamp, bypassing the Saffire's built-in preamps. I like the fact it has a Toslink ADAT in port and RCA S/PDIF in/out, which work fine if you can figure out the Mix Control software. I ended up getting an RME ADI2 outboard ADC and bypassing the Saffire ADCs and just using the Saffire to interface my ADC to my computer. For this one simple task, I think Firewire is kind ...

      Great for 5.1 mixing. Meets my needs. Just install a firecard card in your PC and Saffires are way cheaper than Scarletts with the same features...

      Perfect audio interface for home recording studio.

      Excellent audio interface for beginners and home recording enthusiasts. Two built-in mic preamps and two line level inputs (can be expanded via ADAT connection with external extension such as Focusrite Okta Pre line) Extremely easy to configure and start recording. Logic setup was a piece of cake. Focusrite still supporting them, providing up-to-date drivers and other goodies.
