    About this product

    Product Information

GORF for the Atari VCS is a simplified rendition of the 1981 arcade game. As expected, there are no voice effects, and the graphics offer watered down colors and less detail, but inexcusable is the fact that your ship cannot move around the bottom 1/5th of the screen as in the original. It is relegated to simple horizontal movement. Other differences include fewer enemies onscreen at once, a lack of shields in the Astro Battle and Flagship stages and an entire missing screen. Galaxians, which is a licensed Galaxian-type level, didn't make the cut, primarily due to copyright issues. GORF is a playable port with powerful sound effects (despite the absence of voices), but it's too slow, too easy and, for a game with four different screens, it gets routine very quickly.

    • One of my favorites from childhood

In the late 70s and early 80s, they did more with 8 bit graphics than most companies do today with 64 bit or more. Atari games were the best!
