Don't expect perfection
The EasyCAP generally works well. When the drivers are installed and everything is hooked up, I can see it within Windows and can record with it just fine. The quality obviously isn't that great, but we are dealing with max 480i video, so I didn't expect much. The software is usable, but obviously quite aged. It definitely seems to have been made in the 2000s VCR-DVD era, but has some decent settings. It allows you to adjust stuff like recording resolution, frame rate, quality and basic encoding settings. I did notice that when the recording resolution is set to 720x480, it still outputs in standard definition instead of widescreen, resulting in a "squished" picture. Not sure if this is the software or the limitations of the hardware itself, but it's kind of annoying for recording DVDs ... The EasyCAP generally works well. On the topic of gaming, it's not the best for that. I tried it out with my Wii, and noticed there's some delay. Not terrible delay, mind you, but enough that it's noticeable while playing games. I've also noticed some frame-skipping with recorded video. Again not sure if this is the software or hardware, but it's a bit of a bother. It'll be good enough record quick tutorials or game overviews, but just don't expect the quality that top gaming channels on YouTube would get. Overall, if you set your expectations appropriately for around $10, it'll record for you and output within Windows. It's good enough for recording VHS tapes and DVDs in standard definition, but for widescreen or gaming purposes, you may want to look for something a bit pricier if you're picky about quality. But for the rest of us, it'll do just fine. EDIT: I just tried using the EasyCAP with Media Player Classic for Windows. After configuring it properly, I'm getting a lot less input lag and seemingly more steady performance. Seems like it may be better and there's less stuttering. The software on the disc is trash, use something else instead.

Good for the price
Works well for the price. Easy to capture videos with the software. However, be sure to have a CD reader because if you don't wanna install the drivers via CD, you'll have a hard time. Has a bit of input lag too, nothing major tho. Don't pay more than 15$ for this.

I'm not sure if I needed to install the drivers that came with it on a disc.I did not use the software that it came with, rather I used OBS Studio to capture my 8mm camcorder video. It was especially simple to connect and capture. I definitely would recommend this product. I now have digitized some special memories of my daughter just in time for her wedding :)
