Martin M160's Give a Loud Clear Tone

The Martin M160 Classical Strings with the ball ends eliminates the time consuming task of getting the bridge end of the strings fastened properly. These strings give a loud resonant sound, especially on the low end. In my opinion they give the best acoustic sound level from your guitar of all of the strings that I have tried. I find these high tension strings are not much harder on your fingers than the normal tension strings and of course are much easier on the fingers than steel strings. They give a mellower tone than steel strings and work well to accompany singing. They do well with a finger picking style and sound great using a pick. These Martin strings are not the most expensive that you can buy, but for me they are the best!

  • Ball ends are terrific.

After 30 years I switched to these ball ends which make it super easy to change strings. You don't have to mess around with wrapping the string around itself to secure it. These strings sound great and very much in tune.

  • Martin ball end strings

The only issue I have had is related is related to the plastic sleeve cracking on the high E string, followed by the string breaking in the knot area. I'm coming up with a workaround which I am testing soon. This is all related to my use of these strings on an "electric style" guitar with a metal bridge. I suspect there is no issue on a standard classical with a standard wooden bridge.

  • Martin Silver Plated Ball End Strings Review

Good strings at a fair price! Just be aware, that like all nylon strings (whether low, medium or high tension), they stretch for quite a while after initial tuning (for days, sometimes weeks). The more often you re-tune, the better, until they wear-in.
