Terrific old Americana music; other box contents ( written material) in bad shape.

The anthology itself is great. Pretty rustic and twangy. I love it but it's not to everybody's taste. Alas, one of the booklets included in this particular used version was sliced up, thus unreadable.

  • Anthology of American Folk Music

I like this because it is interesting historical music. I had the old LP's of it back in l974, at least the ballads part, and now it is reissued in CD form, much easier to play now. I love the old ballads, and the oldtimey banjo and fiddle playing. I usually play it when I am canning apples, and I have canned about 10 bushels lately. I am glad to have this.

  • love the history in this product

  • Anthology of American Folk Music

If you want to understand the folk music revival of the 50's and 60's you have to hear this set. Bob Dylan must have covered about half of the tracks at one time or another in his career, buy this collection and you will see why. There is something plain, simple and pure about the songs and performances that is very affecting. So many of the vocal styles are of a time long gone and ways of life that are past.
