Notes
2016 release from the alt-rock/punk trailblazers. Revolution Radio is the twelfth studio album by Green Day and is the first album since 21st Century Breakdown (2009) to be recorded as a trio after Jason White returned to being a touring member in 2016. Work on the album began in January 2016 after a two-year break, following the release of ยกUno! ยกDos! And ยกTrรฉ! in 2012. After stating that their previous trilogy of albums had "absolutely no direction to them" and attempted to be "prolific for the sake of it," lead singer and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong claims that Revolution Radio is "not so much a makeover as a make under." The members of Green Day were kids from working-class backgrounds who came of age in the underground punk scene in Berkeley. The band formed in the late 1980s and consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Trรฉ Cool.

    Back and Better Tehn Ever!

Equal parts inwardly reflective and outwardly contemplative, Revolution Radio is self-aware of its membersโ€™ middle aged crises and perspectives. And that is why it works surprisingly well as Green Dayโ€™s comeback; their position shares a lot with that of adolescents, a country going through an identity crisis, and the genre of punk as a whole. By scaling back from the overambitious sentiments of albums since 21st Century Breakdown and returning to the simple yet effective power chord structure of earlier Green Day, the trio manages to make Revolution Radio both personal and timely for a country going through the same sense of dislocation they themselves have all too recently experienced. I saw the band in October in St. Louis. Yeah, they still have it!

  • Green Day getting better every album

Love the old stuff , love the new stuff . Hard to believe they have made 20 albums, plus being at Woodstock, which I donโ€™t have yet. A must for any GD fan.
