Synopsis
Nestled in the picturesque Hudson Valley town of Rhinebeck, the Beekman Arms began humbly as a stagecoach and mail stop on the Old Albany Post Road at the end of the eighteenth century. Of more than forty stage stops that operated along that path, it is the only one still in existence. Through the tenure of many landlords and several notable renovations, it has evolved into the stately inn it is today. Proclaimed the oldest hotel in America" since the early 1900s, it stands proudly as a symbol of the area's Dutch and English heritage and a reminder of the history that made this area famous. Join authors Matthew and Brian Plumb to explore the storied past of this historic Rhinebeck institution."

Arcadia Publishing offered this brand new book at a much more reasonable price than other sellers were asking for this book, both new & used, on Ebay. Book arrived on time, in brand new, great condition, well packed in bubble wrap inside of a sturdy cardboard mailer. No damage; in perfect condition as described, within the dates seller promised. Very pleased with this transaction, thank you!

Excellent transaction! Especially noteworthy was that for a competitive price, this seller shipped the book in a cardboard box, protecting this new item, unlike the more common experience of books shipped in a plastic sleeve/mailer, which sometimes arrives ripped or torn. Highly recommended.

  • This Book is a "Must" For History Buffs!

This book tells the complete history of the famous Beekman Arms Hotel in Rhinebeck, NY. The photographs alone are worth the price of the book! As a Rhinebeck native, I have learned some things about the "Beek", as we lovingly call her, that I never knew. This book is for anyone who loves the history of old hotels, or for the tourist who plans on visiting Rhinebeck. If you do visit, be sure to make your reservation to stay at this famous hotel - after reading this book, you will feel you know her personally!
