I'm giving 5 stars for functionality of device. But I'm questioning advertised 60W rating - I don't know what testing conditions this claim is based on - 2 stars. Other thing user should be aware of: when applying input voltage, you can notice voltage spike on output, could be potentially danger for sensitive devices - 1 star for that. Overall usefulness and affordable price of this converter is great for lot of small projects.I'm giving 5 stars for functionality of device. Can not be used as a boost converter
I tried to use this as a simple boost converter to boost an input of 7 to 8 volts to an output of 12V with 2A current limit. I was not able to do that. No matter how I adjust the CC (current limiter pot) pot, the device shut down as soon as a 12 ohm load (1 A output) is connected to the output. To be useful as a current limiting boost converter, it should just limit the output current, not shut down. Not to mention the output can't even deliver 12W output power.I tried to use this as a simple boost converter to boost an input of 7 to 8 volts to an output of 12V with 2A current limit. Outstanding performance and quality!
Perfect for bumping 3.7v/5v battery input to my 18v lithium power pack for charging! Delivered 2 amps charging current with no noticeable heating, although i could hear the toroid singing as the current increased more. I fixed that with some common silicone sealant to also fix it to the circuit board. The copper leads were a bit too long, letting the toroid sit about 1/16th inch above the ckt board. I was going to desolder it and snug it tighter, but chose the silicone instead,The leds of different colors were nice and bright making it easy to see what was happening. Looks like the second review is a defensive rebuttal from the seller or an imposters name (seller pretending to be somebody else)to the first reviews comment on the heat sink falling off. If you can’t wait to get this buck/boost plasma ray gun indeed you can pay additional $ and buy from domestic source. If times no concern this bronkin’ buck/booster is available beyond the Great Wall for $2 US from several sources. Excuse me, need to go get me some constant current now from the electric úvula. Device is fine. Great little buck/boost regulator
This is a nicely made product, very easy to adjust for cc or cv, I'm using cv and stepdown from 12 to 5 volts. There is a power led and a trouble led that seems to go off if the power connection is poor. Nice connectors for wires, generously sized. Great value for the power handling capacity. I'm going to buy a few more.
