  • The devil made her do it.

    I read this book basically to see why there was so much fuss about it. The movie was coming out and there was some not so discreet buzz that Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, was the model for the book's boss from hell, Miranda Priestly. Naturally, one would be intrigued. Once I got into the meat of the book, I was disappointed. The litany of Miranda Priestly outrages pile up tediously and you get it, yes, she's an unreasonable, cold blooded she-demon in designer clothes. The draw of the book is the way it slams the fashion industry and influential people like Ms. Wintour, ahem, Miranda Priestly. And, sadly, we all love a good slam. I wish this book was more of a guilty pleasure, but far too soon I felt dragged down by the harping on a superficial theme with mediocre writing. ...

  • Delightful but Sometimes off...

    What Would You do if your Heaven-Sent job turned out to be a Living Hell? What I would do, I would be like Andy and prove that I'm tougher than the others. I kind of enjoyed this adult read, even though it went on-and-on sometimes. I didn't really care for all of the "curse" words in it, sometimes it was funny reading them and who Andy was saying it to in her mind. I also didn't like the insult Andy spoke about Harry Potter "The fourth book in that wretched Harry Potter series was due to be released the next day, a Saturday, and Miranda's ten-year-old daughters each wanted one." I didn't enjoy reading that about Harry Potter because I enjoy reading that series, but I read on. This is a must for any person who loves fashion. I'm not a huge fan of fashion, but this sparked me.   • Devil Wears Prada Worth Reading

    I saw the movie and decided to read the book. As usual, books and movies aren't the same. What intrigued me was a movie review saying this book was based on a real life experience. I am not familar with this lifestye and wanted to be educated. I am half way through the book and I liked the view the author had because she came from an educated background not a worldly background.

    Of course everybody knows that books are better than movies. Well this movie was basically the same as the book but did leave a bunch good stuff out. Like the part when Andrea quits. The book was so much better than the movie in this part. Of course the ending was also different. The book much better. Anyway, I read this book in like two days. It kept my attention the whole time. The writer is awesome. If you ever get a chance to read it you must do. Do not judge the book by the movie. The book is so much better.

    I decided to buy this after seeing the movie 3 times in the theater and absolutely loving it. It turned out to be quite different. I loved the dysfunctional best friend and how the charming man wasn't as involved as he was in the movie. I didn't like how the book ended. It left me saying "well what happened with so and so..." But still a fab book
