About this product

Product Information

The forty-seven stories in this collection, selected by Singer himself out of nearly one hundred and fifty, range from the publication of his now-classic first collection, Gimpel the Fool, in 1957, until 1981. They include supernatural tales, slices of life from Warsaw and the shtetls of Eastern Europe, and stories of the Jews displaced from that world to the New World, from the East Side of New York to California and Miami.

Item's description was somewhat ambiguous (images only) so I'm reluctant to start this feedback with my usual "Item as described". The book is a nice, clean copy. No dog-eared pages or markings anywhere in or on it. Some foxing or toning on the outside edges of the pages and the inner flaps of the dust jacket, typical of many books made in the mid 1980s. Dust jacket fully intact. Reasonably priced. Shipping was fast. Great communication. Packing was unusual, but secure enough. Thanks. A+ deal!!!

5-star Seller with fast shipping! Product arrived in great condition and exactly as described. Shipping cost proves a bit steep since USPS gives book shipments a special lower rate. Nonetheless, I am very happy with my purchase.

  • Isaac Bashevis Singer: The Collected Stories

This is a book of stories or tales, written by the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, Isaac Bashevis Singer. I had the privilege of knowing this most gracious man, and think of my time with him as among the best moments of my life. When you read his works, the stories jump from the pages and reshape your imagination. This books is highly recommended! As they say in the Deli, enjoy! Peter Riola, stalcuin@aol.com
