Synopsis
It has been twenty years since Kurt Cobain died by his own hand in April 1994; it was an act of will that typified his short, angry, inspired life. Veteran music journalist Charles R. Cross fuses his intimate knowledge of the Seattle music scene with his deep compassion for his subject in this extraordinary story of artistic brilliance and the pain that extinguished it. Based on more than four hundred interviews; four years of research; exclusive access to Cobain's unpublished diaries, lyrics, and family photos; and a wealth of documentation, Heavier Than Heaven traces Cobain's life from his early days in a double-wide trailer outside of Aberdeen, Washington, to his rise to fame, success, and the adulation of a generation. Charles Cross has written a preface for this new edition, in which he recounts some of the events regarding Kurt Cobain and this book in the past two decades since his death.

    Wonderful book!

I started reading this with my sister's copy and decided to look for my own copy. I'm one of those women who carry a book in their bag always, so I carry this book everywhere! There is so much detail and being a local Harborite( where Kurt grew up) I love the content of this story. I felt a deeper connection to the man who became a hero to that little lumber town. The condition it came as was practically brand new, I will keep this in my book collection forever.

  • Great Insight

I bought this book for my husband for xmas a couple of years ago. This book is fabulously written. It gives such an insight into Kurt's life and thoughts. I could definitely stand to read it more than once. It gives a much broader view into his life than some of the other books on the market, it also gives perspectives and opinions/experiences from people who were involved in his life. I definitely recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Kurt's. A must read.

  • Excellent Book

I could read this book over and over again...it is very well written...the author did extensive research before writing...he writes it in a way that makes you (as the reader) feel like you are in the room watching all of this go down....
