  • Road to Memphis by Mildred Taylor

Another in the Logan family series by Mildred Taylor. These books give a realistic perspective of people of color in the South during the post depression/pre-civil rights era. Adults never forget, and children are taught to remember their precarious position as citizens with only the rights that whites choose to let them have. The love and dignity of the Logan family eases a financially and culturally difficult time. I love these books.
