  • Excellent

I decided to purchase this book after having read Ross King's "Michelangelo and the Pope's Ceiling" which I thoroughly enjoyed. "Brunelleschi's Dome" gives wonderful insight into the struggle to get the absolutely gorgeous Santa Marie del Fiore dome constructed. How I wish I'd read this book before our visit to Florence. Based on what I've learned, I'm now anxious to return to Florence and to go up to the lantern to view the city. I have much greater appreciation for the largest dome in the world. Though the text is a bit technical (and, I am certainly not), King writes to hold the reader's attention. How we want that dome built as much as Brunelleschi and the artisans of that period. He helps us to enter into the struggle toward the completion. I felt as though I were present to ...

  • Informative yet Incredibly Interesting

I chose to purchase this book after I thumbed through at it while in a bookstore. I found the book to be interesting-almost like reading a story-but also very educational and informative. I felt like I was observing the construction of the dome, and as a bonus, was privy to the thoughts of the great minds involved. Ross King supplies his readers with so much information it at times is almost overwhelming. This is certainly a book that I will be rereading in order to pick up even more information each time.

  • An EASY READ of a DIFFICULT CONCEPT

This was an enjoyable read that blended history and art in a realistic and factual manner and provided an insight as to the personalities of those involved. It provided interesting facts and interrelationships of the famous people of the era.

  • Brunelleschi's Dome by Ross King

I bought this book because I had read The Popes Ceiling also by Ross King and it gave me a better understanding of the artists of the time. This book, I must say, did the same thing and I was not dissapointed. Anyone who loves Art History should read these books.
