  • Great content and one of the few accounts of an infantry private

Co Aytch (Company H) the non-Tennessee dialect is perhaps the best account of the Civil War in Tennessee and Georgia that can be found. Personally, I think there are none better and I have been reading Civil War publications for more than fifty years.

  • Read it!

I don't care if you're from the North or the South, very very much worth the read. The hardships that the Confederacy went through, days without rations and supplies and clothing and shoes is unbelievable. The battles he fought and survived and lived to tell about it in his Memoir 20 years after the war very well done.

  • "Co. Aytch" - A Sideshow to The Big Show

All time classic for any Civil War buff. Sam Watkins' memoirs of life as a Confederate solider in Co. H, 1st Tenn. Infantry, Army of Tennessee, from the beginning of the War Between the States until the Nashville Campaign are very Interesting, Humorous, and Informative. Great Historical reference book for reenactors too. It is full of references to all aspects of army life during the Civil War. From uniforms, food, and equipment, To the fury of battle, and the boredom of camp life, and everything in between. Excellent book for any History Lover that is easy to read and understand!

  • Awesome little read.

Book is a fantastic read. It really puts you in the life of a "Private" during the war. The good the bad and the ugly parts of the life. I has humor, it has emotion and it is gritty.
