Notes
Digitally remastered edition of their third album that includes a 19 minute tour de force, "Parthenogenesis", which displays the quintet at their most experimental. Also featured is their incarnation of Henry Thomas "Bulldozer Blues" where singer Wilson retained the tune of the original song, rewrote the lyric and came up with "Goin' Up the Country", whose simple message caught the back to nature attitude of the late 60's and went to number one in 25 countries around the world.

  • Interesting

An unusual and interesting album - but not great. I'm a big fan of the classic Canned Heat line up. Blind Owl was beyond a doubt one of the most unique and creative bluesmen ever. Until recently my collection contained all of the classic line up releases except this one. Let's start with the .... umm .... weaker aspects first: The forty minute live version of Fried Hockey Boogie, known here as "Re-fried Hockey Boogie". Well, it's not bad! It probably doesn't warrant repeated listenings, but it's not boring. You get to hear Blind Owl exploring his rhythmic thing, a cool solo by Larry "the Mole" Taylor (an excellent player who I'm still coming to appreciate more), and about 8 minutes each of lead guitar solo (and I do mean ...

  • CANNED HEAT'S BEST LP?

This is Canned Heat's 3rd LP, I believe. It's possibly their best - I know it's MY favorite. This is a double album with live performances included. It is so good to hear these guys jam again after all these years! The recordings stand up well, and the performances are better than I remembered. A double Canned Heat LP on one CD...a bargain!

  • Don't Forget To Boogie

. I was happy to find the sound is close to the original vinyl and no pop or hiss, even better no flipping that LP. I recommend this as a replacement for those tired Vinyl Records, 4 and 8-Track and cassette tapes. This complete and well remastered reissue of this great Canned Heat album is a fantastic copy highlighting top notch Canned Heat in both studio and live settings... And Don't Forget To Boogie.
