The Heart of Rock & Roll
I went to a friend’s house to watch the Superbowl and he put this on instead of watching the halftime show. I’m used to 4K or at least blu-ray, this is a standard definition DVD but it is a high quality one with full screen and really good sound quality. I wanted to get one for myself and found this used one in excellent condition. I like it and I’m glad I bought it. Don’t let the fact that it’s not hi-def keep you from buying this, if you like Huey Lewis & The News, you should like this performance. Do You Believe In Huey?
After 25 years, I certainly do. This concert takes place in an intimate gathering of enthusiastic fans at the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company in Chico, CA. It is a celebration of their 25th anniversary as a band, hence the title. Huey and the News play just about all their hits with some help on a few from the audience (nice but not distracting). There is not much sharp switching of camera shots which is a pet peeve I have with many videos. Most of the original News is intact with Johnny Colla, Sean Hopper, and Bill Gibson. Huey is still an excellent vocalist and is in remarkable shape for a man his age. Johnny still plays guitar as good or better than before. The concert includes the acapella portion which is a staple of Huey shows. Excellent video and sound! All in all, an A+ effort for ... After 25 years, I certainly do. Here´s where you can see who´s a real talented artis and who is a media-made fake. The performances on this DVD are a kick in the butt for all these new young self-called rock stars. 22 Songs (Defenitely the best, no hit was left out) performed flawlessly by a group of seasoned musicians who play from the heart and also sing from the heart. The photography, takes, sound, lights and crowd pair the band´s performance, High points: Steff Burns guitar playing and Huey´s voice. Low point: Perhaps the only downer for me is the fact that the special features only include 4 songs played in different stages in past years. Great Reunion Concert - Huey & the Fellas!!!
I bought this DVD because I'm a huge of these guys from the 80's. I love the fact that after 25 yrs in the business, Huey Lewis & the News still can ROCK!!! They sound great as a band though they have aged. The DVD is quite enjoyable because they sing all the greatest hits from the 80's & 90's that made them such stand outs in the Rock & Soul genre. I would definitely recommend this DVD to anyone that enjoys great music from an awesome band. Huey Lewis & the News are worth a standing ovation.
