Like all ROG motherboards, the Rampage IV Extreme build quality is superb, and its sleek, black design creates visual appeal.ASUS built a variety of features that enhance gaming performance into the Rampage IV Extreme. Five of the six expansion slots are PCIe 3.0, and four of those are PCIe x16. Multi-graphic card support is a breeze, and gamers can configure up to four graphic cards in either SLI or Crossfire. Memory support is also impressive. The Rampage IV Extreme supports up to 64 GB of quad-channel DDR3 2400 megahertz RAM for handling extra-heavy workloads. The motherboard supports DDR3 memory with transfer rates of 2400/2133/1866/1600/1333 megahertz. If you have triple channel RAM, there's no need to upgrade because ASUS has you covered.With driver support available for Windows 10, the Rampage IV makes a great choice for builders. A powerful system can be created using the LGA2011 type socket CPU. The Intel x79 chipset is compatible with both Sandy Bridge-E and Ivy Bridge-E CPUs.As with all ROG motherboards, ASUS made the Rampage IV an overclocker's dream. Overclockers will appreciate the UEFI BIOS with its Easy Mode and Advanced Mode options. With eight presets, the BIOS allows overclockers to tweak the Intel CPU to better performance. ASUS built safety into this motherboard. Two 64 MB flash ROMS protect against a bad BIOS flash. The Overclocking Protection and Extreme Tweaker make it easy for you to push the CPU and memory. You can push them to their limits as well as keep them there.Expansion is easy. The Intel x79 motherboard supports four SATA 3 GB/s and four SATA 6 GB/s devices. You can configure it for RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10. Additionally, it has four USB 3.0 and eight USB 2.0 ports on its rear panel with an additional two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 internal ports. You'll be able to run all your devices without running out of space.There's no need to get a sound card for this motherboard. The built-in sound is just as impressive as the other features. The Realtek ALC898 7.1-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC supports immersive surround-sound systems, so you'll feel in the middle of the action. Other features include jack detection, multi-streaming, and front panel jack retasking.
