I bought the DP178 bridge pickup to match the True Velvet neck pickup that was installed by the previous owner of a used Tele I bought. The neck pickup sounded fantastic, so I wanted to try the matching bridge pickup. I couldn't be happier....it's definitely a great pickup. I can easily get all the twang I need, or a great rock tone with some overdrive. I really don't need twang, but it'll do it in spades. I play a lot of classic rock, blues, some hard rock and it's absolutely perfect for that. It's very articulate, well balanced and not shrill sounding at all. Great sounding pickup
I ordered this quite a while ago, but the project was held up because I was busy at work. I had used a Twang King in a previous project and really love it. But I was looking for something a touch smoother up top, and I think the True Velvet fits the bill nicely. It still has all the Tele twang you'd expect, but it's slightly less edgey, and has a nice growl when you push it a little bit.
