    Starship Troopers for Today

    This is one S/F film that only gets better with time. Like "Robocop," Troopers mixes action with bites of pop culture that reflect what we are being fed by the mass media and government. Some have said the film has too many young people (in leadship roles), yet, in looking back to past wars, someone in their twentys was the "old man."

    Should not have been called Starship Troopers

    This movie would have been a half decent summer scifi action flick. I was excited to hear that they were making a Starship Troopers movie. The cast seemed OK, and the concept art looked alright. Then the other details came out... no mobile armor suits, a love triangle, and the Arachnids are just really big bugs. The effects are pretty and all that, but almost none... no wait... none of the story of the book is really seen. It boils down to just using some names from the book and making a gory scifi action movie. But it's not worthy of the title. They could have called it Bug Wars or something else, but it's no Starship Troopers. Do yourself a favor and read the book instead of watching this flick.
