This is the Japanese version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 by Sega Game Gear. It is a popular retro game that improves on the first installment by introducing seven new hair-raising levels, providing hours of gaming excitement., This 16-bit adventure by Sega treats you to Dr. Eggman’s most maniacal plots, and features many intense high-speed battles. This time around, Sonic comes home from vacation to discover all his animal friends gone, and a mysterious note left behind by his double-tailed companion, Tails. Determined to find out what’s going on and save his friend, Sonic speeds through 21 individual battle zones, utilizing all his best moves, and even bringing along a few new tricks. Using techniques like taking a wild ride in a mine cart, and soaring on a hang glider, he bravely fights his way through each zone, before facing a different robotic boss. The ransom for his friend’s safe return are the six Chaos Emeralds, which have to be delivered to six new boss robots. When he reaches the final level, he’s forced to face his arch enemy, Dr. Ivo Robotnik, without the help of rejuvenating bonus rings. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 by Sega Game Gear, and developed by Aspect, is a 16-bit side-scrolling platform game released by Sega for their Sega Game Gear and Sega Master System formats in 1992. This follows the release of the original “Sonic the Hedgehog” for the Sega Genesis in 1991. Sega also brought out an arcade version “SegaSonic the Hedgehog” in 1993. Following the continuing popularity of this gaming series, Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble was released in 1994. As you play Sonic the Hedgehog 2 by Sega Game Gear, you, have to fight your way through seven zones, each consisting of three acts, the third consisting of a boss battle. Like previous games in the series, players control Sonic as he makes his way through the seven zones, overcoming deadly obstacles and fighting various bad guys. During Sonic the Hedgehog 2 by Sega Game Gear, you can protect yourself from enemy damage by collecting rings. Extra lives are earned by collecting 100 rings. Unlike the previous 8- bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, you are now able to recollect some of the rings after being hit. There are other technical improvements, such as being able to run through loops and smash some of the walls. There are also gameplay mechanics that are unique to certain zones, like using a hanglider, skimming across the surface of water, or floating inside giant bubbles. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 by Sega Game Gear is a fun and entertaining saga beloved by fans of retro video games.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Game Gear)
Sonic so far by far is one of the best loved series of games for gaming systems that the kids love. I recently purchased a few game gears for relatives who have problems because I liked the game gear after looking around on Ebay to read what people wrote about the system. Sonic games are challenging but still rewarding game that is not slow paced. The difficulty builds at different levels. The colors are excellent for the games such that different characters and items show clearly on the screen. After playing Sonic finally to make sure it worked when it was won recently at Ebay for the kids Sega Game Gears I finally understand why they enjoy this little hedgehog so much. This game was a little more interesting to me than the spin ball was which took off a bit slow but then began to build ... Sonic so far by far is one of the best loved series of games for gaming systems that the kids love. This game was a little more interesting to me than the spin ball was which took off a bit slow but then began to build for interest but there are a few spin ball (where Sonic is the ball in a huge pin ball type matrix) places where Sonic gets hung up and just bounces around such that there is little action game play but definitely some visual entertainment. This game has items to collect, opponents to knock out and other interesting items to gain points along with interest. As of yet I have to master jumping in the cart that runs down the tracks such that I am not usually left behind after touching it to motivate it to move. There is not much reading from what I can tell but it has plenty of hand to eye fine motor skill action for children who are learning such skills. The background music is not overpowering and is very nice. Overall it is a very entertaining game that I am glad I do not survive long in (yet) such that I am not still sitting here playing it such that I understand how children will get so hooked on playing such an animated character.

The best Sonic out of the Bunch
This game came with the first sega game gear I bought when I was a kid. I have played all the Sonic games for the this console and I feel that it is the best out of the bunch. The graphics are sharp and Sonic seems to be more interactive with other objects on screen. He rides in a mine cart, flies in a Hang Glider and floats in a bubble. There are 7 main levels to this game and most levels are broken up into three sections. The rules are the same like all of the other Sonics, find the 6 Chaos Emerald. Beat Dr. Robotnik and you will rescue Tails. You play only has Sonic in this one. The music is good and I especially like Green Hill Zone and the Bosses music. Not The Best Sonic Game
I will give credit to Sonic 2 for Game Gear because it isn't a clone of the Genesis version. The game is rather difficult at times(especially towards the end), but I managed to beat it(without the emeralds). My favorite levels are Aqua Zone, Gimmick Mountain, Green Hills, and Crystal Egg(need all the emeralds to play this level). I used the level select code to play Crystal Egg. The graphics aren't bad and the music is OK. You will be challenged to the max during the boss battles though. Sonic will have to put his skills to the test to make it through each challenge. The final battle with Robotnik isn't too bad once you learn his pattern. I got Sonic 2 free with some Game Gear games I bought, so that's not a bad deal. can't go wrong with the Hedgehog
This is not the best Sonic game, but it definitely has the speed and charm of the classic Sonic era. I bought this game just to have it in my collection of Sonic games, I already had it on "Sonic Gems Collection" and "Sonic Adventure DX". So I would recomend those compilations first. But for the hardcore Sonic collectors like me, This is a must get.
