    A great remote, but watch out for static electricity

    I have been using this model remote for my TV for a few years now. A few days after receiving it, my wife had the remote and walked it across the room to me. Evidently, she built up static electricity as she walked across the room. When she handed it to me, we heard a loud crack and all of the lights on the remote came on. I quickly opened the battery compartment and removed them. When I reinstalled them, it worked OK. The next day, and without remembering the previous day, the same scenario occurred. However, this time when I reloaded the batteries, the remote was completely dead. I tried a different set of batteries, but nothing. A great remote, as I said, but watch out for static electricity. I know that we will from now on!

    Wouldn't chance it again

    I had another remote exactly like this old corrosion works a while than stops. Pull out batteries and one has acid on top and they were brand new batteries. Put new battery in remote got hotter and hotter. I read in manual how batteries can catch fire.

    Works fine, just a little different, very little different from original. The original one was wearing out, got one of these a while back and realized that I needed some insurance for one of those "WHERE IS THE REMOTE!!!!" days that life throws at ya...

    This is why you only buy one brand of tv

    I committed to Vizio when Costco started carrying them and I haven't regretted it. You can buy 3 used clickers for half the cost of one OEM brand. Works as advertised and one of the few clickers that works PIP, remember that?

    Looks like its predecessor (the OEM version)

    I bought this remote because: 1) some of the keys on the original remote stopped functioning and 2) fearing that the remote will be MD (Manufacture Discontinued). I hope that the two remotes will extend the use of the TV till it natural live or until it becomes obsolete. For what I paid for the TV it should last for decades, but the early degradation of the remote is a bad omen. We'll see.
