It is a good value because it will save me from having to pay full price for lumber down at the building supply store. However, after I bought the unit, I found a similar product for about half the price. No way to compare quality so don't have a fair comparison.

LumberMaker chainsaw guide
I almost burned up my Stihl Farmboss 18" saw and chain cutting a log. The chain got hot and stretched sawing the log. One needs to take their time sawing the logs for good results and have more than one sharp chain. The Lumber Maker is a quality guide which can help create uniform boards. I enjoy using it to saw out a very few boards.

GREAT PRODUCT.
Really like this lumbermaker, allready cut several logs into lumber, really easy, just a little practice and you can cut pretty accurate thickness boards, pays for itself after cutting just 2 or 3 logs, really gonna get a lot of good use out of it. Got it on my Husqvarna 460 Rancher 24" bar, does a really good job.

Small footprint and very versatile.
I needed a product I could carry into the north woods of Ontario easily that would also be effective at making lumber. This product fits the bill perfectly. It requires the user to make some jigs to get the full potential, but the amount of things this tool can accomplish is truly amazing. I ended up building a knock-down mill frame out of dimensional lumber that worked like a charm. I think I spent $80 on material, and I got a repeatable-depth sawmill capable of anything I need!I needed a product I could carry into the north woods of Ontario easily that would also be effective at making lumber.
