The 56K Faxmodem USB modem is hot-swappable (installs/uninstalls automatically) and is bus-powered so it doesn't require an external power supply. Internet Call Notification puts you in charge of incoming calls ICN monitors online activity and lets you take full advantage of Modem on Hold – choose to accept or reject incoming calls while online .

    U.S. Robotics USR5633B Analog Modem (DHUSR5633B)

    The dial up modem that came with my Sony VAIO laptop with Vista(JUNK) was also JUNK and was taking up to 12 attemps to make a connection. Some times I would even have to reboot to get it to connect. Dial up is bad enough without going through this. With my past experience with US Robotics and knowing that they were the best modem you could get, I went to Ebay looking for a US Robotics USB analog modem. I found one and bid and won it for a good price. It took about 2 minutes to install and works great with Vista(JUNK) I now hook up first time every time.
