Product Information

The Need for Speed series makes a significant departure from previous entries with "The Run," which has players on a high-speed race across the country. Your goal is to make it from San Francisco to New York City as quickly as possible while trying to outmaneuver those pursuing you -- from law enforcement to the mob -- and outwitting your competition. Each destination is broken down into a series of time-sensitive stages that has you completing specific objectives before you can advance.<br><br>You'll need to swerve to avoid spotlights and bullet fire from a pursuing helicopter, for example, or make it out of a city before time expires. For the first time in the series, you'll engage in on-foot sequences as well as driving missions. Your car will periodically crash during the course of your travels, at which point you'll have to continue on foot. Rather than directly control your character, you'll instead rely on scripted quick-time events to dodge bullets, leap across rooftops, engage in hand-to-hand combat, and more. Successfully tap the right button at the precise time to continue the action.

This is Burnout,looking back at takedowns, not the NFS racing we expected.
I liked Burnout, but didn't expect a Need For Speed title to not to be a true racing game. You can't turn off the action camera, so you have to suffer through a look back at every "takedown" you cause,(you can't avoid them). You take down police, other racers and the criminals. You get rewards when you finally take down 500 of each of them. You can't race when you're looking back so of course you hit something as a result. It's annoying. You lose your lead & fall to last place. Then in true Burnout fashion, near the end of the race, the other "racers" fall back to let you finish the race in at least 3rd place, which is good enough to let you continue. The challenges are pretty much like Burnout too with all the look backs on the takedowns. The Burnout games were at least fun with the party ... I liked Burnout, but didn't expect a Need For Speed title to not to be a true racing game. I like most of the Need For Speed games, but in my opinion the last great game was Carbon. You can't really do much to modify your car in this game. I had a hard time finding much to like about the game. Some of the music can getting annoying & you don't have the option to turn off music you don't want to listen to. If you're a Burnout fan, you'll probably like the game to a point. If you like racing without feeling like they hand you the race after all the annoying takedowns, you probably won't. The only NFS title we don't own is Pro Street, but the last 3 releases have me wondering if we will purchase any more of them in the future. This game disappointed us.
